On September 15, 2015 FAWE Regional Secretariat Network Specialist Ms. Daphine Chimuka successfully launched the FAWEZI Alumni Network at the Management Training Bureau (MTB) Masasa. In her speech Ms. Chimuka said she was happy to see young women commit to working together for the empowerment of the girl child. “As the FAWE Regional Secretariat we are officially recognising this Alumni as from now,” she said. Ms. Chimuka also said in line with 1992 FAWE agenda the FAWEZI Alumni should thrive to liberate every girl child through education. “We should also note that entering school is not so important, what is more is important is staying there,” Ms. Chimuka said.
The guest speaker at the event Ms. Marcey Mushore also emphasised on the need to empower girls. Mushore spoke about the need to encourage every parent to take their children to school. “The more educated one is more the more they are worth,” she said.
