International Women’s Day celebrations 2015

FAWEZI attended the Internation Women’s Day Celebrations 2015 organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development at the Harare International Conference Center (HICC) on March 6.
The guest of honor was Dr Grace Mugabe.
Speaking at the event Dr Grace urged women and girls to break gender stereotypes by venturing into professions previously male dominated.

She urged girls and women to desist from the tendency of being dependent on their male counterparts by attaining education and also encouraged them to take up science, Math and technological subjects.
To those women who have educational qualifications the first lady said there is need for them to prepare themselves for leadership roles.
“Educated women should participate in politics; above all women need to support and encourage other women and desist from pulling down each other”, she said.
She went on to encourage women to take up any carrier of their choice saying they also can be as competent as men.
“In all of us as women there is that giant which needs awakening and with God nothing is impossible,” she said. The celebrations ran under the theme ‘Beijing +20: The journey towards Women Empowerment in Zimbabwe Successes and Challenges’.
