Yesterday, 14 October, FAWEZI held an inception meeting under the project – “Empowered Adolescent Girls for Improved Quality of Life” – in Shamva District. It was attended by representatives from FAWEZI’s 5 Shamva project schools (heads, teachers, parents, SDC’s). Our objectives were to appraise and sensitize members of the project schools, and their larger communities, on the components of the project, which are:
- Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG)
- Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and
- Economic Empowerment (EE).
We also gathered knowledge on the prevailing issues around Gender-Based Violence and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights in Shamva. FAWEZI is implementing this project as part of a consortium with ActionAid Zimbabwe, Leonard Cheshire Disability, and AIDS Counselling Trust – ACT.
