Strengthening Partnerships for Education Access: FAWEZI’s Courtesy Visit to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education
The Forum for African Women Educationalists Zimbabwe (FAWEZI) paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Hon. T. Moyo. The visit was an opportunity to extend sincere appreciation to the Ministry for its unwavering support during the successful launch of the FAWEZI Strategic Plan (2024–2028) and the FAWE/Mastercard Foundation Phase II Programme, held in June.
During the meeting, FAWEZI highlighted the importance of strong partnerships in driving transformative education initiatives in Zimbabwe. The newly launched Strategic Plan sets out FAWEZI’s vision for the next five years, focusing on ensuring that every girl and boy—particularly those from marginalised communities—can access, complete, and thrive at every level of education. The plan aligns with national education priorities and global commitments to gender equality and inclusive education.
The Honourable Minister, Dr. T. Moyo commended FAWEZI’s renewed strategic direction, noting the organisation’s consistent role in advancing education equity over the years. He pledged the Ministry’s continued support for FAWEZI’s programmes, particularly the FAWE/Mastercard Foundation Phase II Programme, which expands educational access to tertiary levels for disadvantaged young women and men. This milestone reflects a significant step forward in bridging gaps in higher education opportunities, empowering youth with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to contribute meaningfully to national development.
For FAWEZI, this visit reaffirmed the value of collaboration with government stakeholders in achieving sustainable impact. Education remains a shared responsibility, and strengthening alliances between civil society, government, and development partners ensures that no learner is left behind.
As FAWEZI continues to roll out its 2024–2028 Strategic Plan, the organisation remains committed to advocating for inclusive and gender-responsive education systems in Zimbabwe. With the support of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, development partners, and communities, FAWEZI looks forward to scaling initiatives that transform access to education from the primary level all the way to tertiary institutions—creating pathways of opportunity for future generations.
