Forging Strategic Partnerships to Advance Education for Women and Girls in Zimbabwe
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration and enhance impact, the Forum for African Women Educationalists Zimbabwe (FAWEZI), in partnership with the FAWE Regional Secretariat, conducted a high-level courtesy visit to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in Zimbabwe on June 6, 2025.
The delegation was warmly received by Ms. Caitlin Spence, Social Development Advisor, and the engagement presented a valuable platform for FAWE and FAWEZI to formally introduce themselves as regional and national drivers of transformative education for women and girls across Africa.
The meeting was marked by a rich exchange of ideas and strategic priorities. FAWE and FAWEZI articulated their joint vision of promoting inclusive, equitable, and quality education, underpinned by gender equality and youth empowerment. In turn, FCDO shared its current focus areas and affirmed its commitment to development partnerships that create meaningful change.
Crucially, the dialogue led to the identification of key areas for potential collaboration, including the advancement of gender-responsive education systems, strengthening pathways for girls’ re-entry into education, and increasing support for adolescent girls in marginalized communities through STEM and life skills development.
This engagement is a leap forward toward cultivating impactful partnerships that will accelerate progress toward sustainable development goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality). FAWEZI remains committed to building strong alliances that amplify efforts to ensure that every girl and young woman in Zimbabwe and across the continent has access to the education she deserves.
Together with our partners, we look forward to translating dialogue into action and advancing the shared mission of transforming education for Africa’s women and girls.
