FAWEZI Trains Teachers to Enhance Learners Creativity Through ‘Design for Change’
Today, in an initiative aimed at transforming the educational landscape, the Forum for African Women Educationalists Zimbabwe (FAWEZI) conducted a comprehensive training program for teachers across various regions of Zimbabwe. This training focused on integrating the principles of Design for Change, the world’s largest movement dedicated to empowering children to take charge and create positive change in their schools, homes, and communities.
Design for Change operates on the belief that children, when given the right tools and guidance from their teachers, possess the incredible potential to develop innovative solutions to the challenges they face daily. The program emphasizes the importance of nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among young learners, enabling them to envision and construct a better future.
The training sessions by FAWEZI have equipped teachers with the methodologies and strategies essential to facilitate this transformative process. Teachers learnt how to inspire and support learners in identifying problems, brainstorming creative solutions, and implementing actionable plans. This support for educators is a crucial step in promoting a generation of young changemakers who are not only aware of their capabilities but are also confident in their ability to effect meaningful change.
FAWEZI’s collaboration with Design for Change underscores a shared commitment to nurturing a culture of innovation and proactive problem-solving within the youth. As these trained teachers return to their classrooms, they carry with them the tools to ignite a passion for change among their students, promoting a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
