FAWEZI was at Crowne Plaza this week to put on “The Programme for the Training of Teachers on Child Safeguarding and the National Case Management System” with partner ActionAid Zimbabwe. On day 1 of the training, FAWEZI contracted professional facilitators for the morning sessions while Patricia and Neesha from Action Aid remotely facilitated the afternoon session. Patricia and Neesha facilitated on SHEA and Child Safeguarding. The programme was attended by project school heads, administrators, and teachers from Chitungwiza and Shamva. The programme was also attended by representatives from the District Schools Inspector’s offices for Shamva and Chitungwiza. Facilitators were drawn from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s Learner Welfare, Psychological Services and Special Needs Education (LEPS), the Department of Social Welfare, and Action Aid. On day 2, the department of social welfare facilitated on the National Case Management System. In the afternoon, the Victim Friendly Unit (VFU) facilitated a session on existing reporting mechanisms, and how the community and VFU can work together to protect children and bring perpetrators to justice.
