Announcement: Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Bursary Awardees FAWE/Mastercard Foundation Phase II Programme – Academic Year 2026, Zimbabwe
The Forum for African Women Educationalists Zimbabwe (FAWEZI), with support from FAWE and the Mastercard Foundation is pleased to announce the list of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) bursary awardees for the 2026 academic year under the Second Chance Pathways for Increased Access to Tertiary Education for Marginalised Young Women and Men PhaseII Programme.
The bursary is providing opportunities for marginalised young women and men aged 15–25 years to access Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), with a strong focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. The programme prioritises young women and men facing significant social and economic barriers, including persons with disabilities, refugees, internally displaced persons, and vulnerable youth such as orphans and those affected by HIV/AIDS.
Following a highly competitive and transparent selection process, a total of 192 beneficiaries were awarded bursaries to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics related programmes across six partner institutions in Zimbabwe including:
Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Gweru, Kwekwe Polytechnics and Belvedere Technical Teachers College
The selection process was guided by a multi-tiered structure involving District, Provincial and National Selection Committees, ensuring fairness, transparency, and representation of key stakeholders. Out of over 4,500 applications received nationwide, 3,687 met the eligibility criteria and underwent rigorous screening, shortlisting, and verification processes, including home visits to validate applicants’ socio-economic circumstances.
FAWEZI congratulates all successful applicants and extends appreciation to its partners, including government ministries, civil society organisations, and community stakeholders, whose collaboration made this process possible.
