FAWEZI Advances Teacher Engagement and Skills Pathways at World Teachers’ Day National Commemorations
The Forum for African Women Educationalists in Zimbabwe (FAWEZI) participated in the Zimbabwe National Commemorations of World Teachers’ Day held at Pelandaba Stadium in Matabeleland South Province, under the theme: “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession – Investing in Teachers: Invest in Quality Education.”
The national commemoration provided a strategic platform to reaffirm the central role of teachers in delivering inclusive, equitable, and quality education, and to strengthen collaboration across the education sector. In alignment with the theme’s call to action, FAWEZI engaged a broad range of education stakeholders, including teachers, school inspectors, school heads, Provincial Education Directors, and teacher union leaders.
Through targeted outreach and dialogue, FAWEZI popularised the FAWE/Mastercard Foundation Phase II Programme, highlighting its focus on expanding access to education and skills development for marginalised young women and men. The engagement also served to sensitise stakeholders on the ongoing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) bursary call, which supports young people pursuing technical and vocational pathways as a critical driver of inclusive socio-economic development.
As part of its visibility and awareness efforts, FAWEZI distributed programme information and advocacy materials, including brochures and calls for applications, to ensure wide dissemination of opportunities and strengthen stakeholder understanding of the programme’s objectives and impact.
FAWEZI joins the nation in celebrating teachers as transformative agents who shape lives, nurture aspirations, and drive the future of education in Zimbabwe. The organisation reaffirms its commitment to working alongside educators and education partners to invest in teachers—recognising that quality education begins with a supported, empowered, and valued teaching profession.
