FAWEZI Strengthens Continental Collaboration at FAWE Africa 81st Board Meeting
FAWEZI actively participated in the 81st Board Meeting of FAWE Africa and the National Chapters Learning and Engagement Forum, held in Nairobi, Kenya. The convening brought together leaders from across the FAWE network to review strategic priorities, share learning, and strengthen synergies between continental governance and national programme implementation.
FAWEZI was represented by Executive Committee members, including Prof. Ruth Gora, Prof. S. Chingarande, Dr. S. Zebron, Mrs. C. Dimingu, alongside Executive Director Ms. Lydia Madyirapanze.
The Board meeting focused on aligning the FAWE Africa strategic agenda with the implementation realities of national chapters. Critical topics included girls’ access to quality education, gender-responsive teaching, leadership development, and inclusive programming that addresses barriers faced by marginalised girls, including those with disabilities.
Key outcomes from the forum included:
Strengthened alignment between FAWE governance structures and national programme execution, ensuring policy decisions are informed by evidence and country-level data.
Enhanced knowledge exchange across chapters, particularly in implementing gender-transformative education interventions and community engagement strategies.
Consolidation of best practices from FAWEZI’s initiatives in Zimbabwe, including mentorship, STEM promotion, and second-chance pathways for out-of-school girls, to inform continental programme frameworks.
Development of actionable recommendations for integrating monitoring and evaluation data to track impact across member chapters.
Participation in the 81st Board Meeting and Learning Forum reinforced FAWEZI’s commitment to leveraging regional collaboration to drive equitable access to education for girls, expand leadership opportunities, and implement evidence-based interventions.
